AS Watson Group’s volunteer team participated in a variety of activities ranging from educational workshops to volunteer services in the third quarter of 2019.
In a workshop, the volunteers learned about dementia and how to effectively communicate with people suffering from it and help them integrate with society and lead normal live.
Other programmes included a session by a registered Chinese Medicine practitioner and dietitian on preparing healthy snacks and soups. Another workshop on horticultural therapy taught the participants about growing medicinal herbs and how it brings positive energy to society.
Different activities were organised to suit the needs of the elderly. Since fall is one of the leading causes of injury and hospitalisation of elderly, a workshop was organised to offer fall prevention tips, demonstrate the basic stretching exercises and provide balance and endurance training. The volunteers also helped teach the elderly about the use of smartphones.
Finally, the volunteers enjoyed a fun day at a carnival where they assisted at game booths, the award presentation as well as other supporting roles.
