My interest in computers began when I was just 10 years old. It’s a fact that computers make life so much easier and you can get much better results from using it. Because of this, I chose to major in software engineering when I went to university. I am so excited that after that I’ve got the wonderful opportunity to work at Watsons to deliver solutions that helps improve people’s lives. But most importantly, I feel that this is a company that really supports women working in IT. Not only I’ve been given plenty of opportunities to develop professionally, I’m always treated as equal to all my male colleagues.
In the past, there was a lot of prejudice against women in the IT field so I always did my best to convince people that women could do the job just as good as men (or maybe even better!). But at Watsons, everyone is given the same opportunities regardless of whether you’re a man or a woman as long as you are well prepared. As a woman working in IT today, I feel that whenever I achieve something, the happiness is doubled or tripled. This really makes me feel cool!
At the end of the day, what will get you far in this job is diligence, not your gender. Self-confidence is the key factor that will make you successful, and it is hard work that will always pay off.
