PARKnSHOP became the pioneer among local supermarket chains in early July through launching of a food dontion programme with Food Angel to help the needy.
The programme is a co-operation with Food Angel, a food recovery programme under non-profit group Bo Charity Foundation. PARKnSHOP donates edible vegetables, fruits and loose bakery, and Food Angel prepare these unsold items into meal boxes and give away to people in need. To tie in with the opening of Food Angel’s central kitchen in Chai Wan, PARKnSHOP has decided to extend the programme to more stores in the proximity of the central kitchen in the hope of helping more people.
PARKnSHOP partners with Food Angel who shares the same mission to ensure that the beneficiaries could enjoy fresh and safe food. Food Angel will be responsible for the food safety, and it will closely monitor and regularly and professionally test its transport and cooking process.
Bo Charity Foundation thanked PARKnSHOP for donating food to Food Angel, as this helps to remind the public of treasuring food.
PARKnSHOP will continue its internal procedures to reduce food waste at source including more accurate demand forecasts and end of day clearance. PARKnSHOP will also follow government’s further guidelines to explore other practical and safe ways of food waste management.
