PARKnSHOP is proud to announce today that it has pioneered a new barcode tracing system that will further enhance the safety, quality and freshness of all Mainland China vegetables on sale at all PARKnShOP stores in Hong Kong.
The new barcode tracing system, which gives all mainland-grown vegetables a kind of identity cards, will show essential product information such as the names and addresses of the farms where the vegetables were grown, the dates the vegetables were picked and to which store they were delivered for sale.
This new tracing system marks the latest enhancement to PARKnSHOP's long-established Farm Check programme, and gives customers unparalleled confidence in the traceability, safety, quality and freshness of the food they buy for their families.
Managing Director of PARKnSHOP Hong Kong Mr Philippe Giard said the total traceability of this new barcode system would bring a total peace of mind for all PARKnSHOP customers.
"We know how important it is to Hong Kong shoppers to know that the food they're serving to their families is safe, as well as being top quality and super-fresh."
"That's why we're introducing the Barcode ID system to show exactly how we're tracking all our vegetables down to every last carrot from the farms we've selected as suppliers, right through production, packaging and delivery."
The Barcode ID system goes well beyond what is required under the General Administration for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) regulations on the importation of fresh mainland vegetables introduced in April this year.
All farms supplying fresh produce to PARKnSHOP must pass a double evaluation – first, their vegetables must come with approvals from the GAQSIQ; and second, they must meet PARKnSHOP's stringent and ongoing 'Farm Check' requirements for safety and quality.
Mr Giard said, "The PARKnSHOP tracking barcodes are attached to all baskets of our fresh vegetables from the mainland, and through these Barcode ID cards we're guaranteeing that our customers and their families are enjoying the freshest and the safest vegetables available."
