Wednesday September 23rd, 2020

No Spending Required. Open to All Hong Kong Citizens.

Following the announcement of Food Coupon Scheme to give back to the underprivileged, PARKnSHOP Hong Kong is delighted to roll out the “Cheer Up! Smile & Win Lucky Draw” today, as part of the plan to rebate to the general public in the second phase of Employment Support Scheme (ESS), which has been accepted by the government.

As per government’s request, (1) the rebate should not be less than 50 per cent of the ESS subsidies approved under the second tranche; (2) the types of beneficiaries of the rebate may include, in order of priority, the underprivileged groups, customers and employees. Supermarket chains should give back to the customers without conditions, and it shouldn’t be bundled with any promotional or membership privileges so PARKnSHOP will roll out the Lucky Draw. Without any purchase, the general public will stand a chance to win supermarket vouchers valued at HK$32 million simply by online or phone call registration. The “Cheer Up! Smile & Win Lucky Draw” is under preparation and more details will be released in October, Furthermore, PARKnSHOP will further arrange special rewards to give back to employees by the end of December.

Malina Ngai, Group COO of AS Watson Group and CEO of AS Watson (Asia & Europe), said, “The plan of giving back to general public should be very clear and direct so PARKnSHOP rolls out the Cheer Up! Smile & Win Lucky Draw in which no purchase is required. The Lucky Draw is open to all the citizens in Hong Kong. We hope to benefit the general public in a clear and easy-to-understand way. In fact, PARKnSHOP has already initiated a number of measures to support the community since the pandemic outbreak. Taking MoneyBack’s ‘Get Rewards Around The Town’ 18 District Cross-Merchant Consumer Spending Stimulation Reward Scheme as an example, HK$5 million has been given out to encourage local consumption in restaurants and retail shops, in a bid to alleviate unemployment pressure and give Hong Kong’s economy a much needed boost. Moreover, we have been continuously offering surgical masks and running surplus food donation programmes with our charity partners. All these caring actions are not included in the giveback proposal we submitted to the government in the second tranche of ESS application, but still we are more than happy to do it, out of our love and care to Hong Kong. AS Watson Group has served all walks of lives for over 179 years, we believe that we will get through this challenging time together.”
