1 New Store in Every 2 Days
While ASW celebrates its 25th anniversary of gaining foothold in Mainland China’s health & beauty market in 2014, Watsons China achieves new feat of success in its business by hitting the 1,800 stores milestone in August. Watsons has accelerated its growth pace in Mainland China by unveiling over one new store in every two days, expecting 400 new stores to be opened in 2014. In the first 17 years of Watsons’ presence in Mainland China, there were only 250 stores in the country. However, in the seven years that followed, it was a record of fast growth in terms of store network, with approximately 700 new stores being opened from 2012 till now.
To Unlock the Potential Untapped
The number of Watsons store is growing rapidly at double-digit rate in Mainland China each year. Its store network has already penetrated into the first and second tier cities like Chengdu and Chongqing, and the brand is planning its pipeline in the third and fourth tier cities including Xinyang and Leshan. Watsons has recruited a total of 40 million loyal customers in Mainland China so far.
In respect of the surging number of commercial properties along railway stations in the first and second tier cities, enormous business opportunities are emerging from a wave of large shopping mall construction. In line with rising internet access and flooding of consumer information in the developing third and fourth tier cities, consumer sentiment is as strong as that in the first and second tier cities in Mainland China.
